உலக புள்ளியியல் தினம் - World Statistics Day :

✒️The United Nations General Assembly declared October 20 as World Statistics Day in 2010. All the schemes defined by the government for the poor and simple people depend on these points. Its general purpose is to celebrate the success of statistics applications and their service, excellence and professionalism.

• ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் பொதுச்சபை அக்டோபர் 20ஆம் தேதியை உலக புள்ளியியல் தினமாக  2010ஆம் ஆண்டு அறிவித்தது. ஏழை, எளிய மக்களுக்காக அரசால் வரையறுக்கப்படும் திட்டங்கள் அனைத்தும் இப்புள்ளி விவரங்களைச் சார்ந்தே உள்ளன. புள்ளி விவரங்கள் பயன்பாட்டின் வெற்றியையும், அவற்றின் சேவை, மேன்மை மற்றும் தொழில் திறமையையும் கொண்டாடுவதே இத்தினத்தின் பொது நோக்கமாகும்.

உலக எலும்புப்புரை தினம் - World Osteoporosis Day :

✒️World Osteoporosis Day is observed worldwide on 20th October every year. The day is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. The objective is to create awareness that proper nutrition keeps bones healthy and strong.

• உலக எலும்புப்புரை தினம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் அக்டோபர் 20ஆம் தேதி உலகம் முழுவதும் கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது. எலும்புப்புரை நோயைத் தடுத்தல், கண்டறிதல், சிகிச்சையளித்தல் ஆகியவற்றிற்காக இந்நாள் அர்ப்பணிக்கப்படுகிறது. தகுந்த சத்துணவுகள் எலும்பை ஆரோக்கியமாகவும், வலிமையாகவும் வைக்கின்றன என்ற விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவதே இத்தினத்தின் நோக்கமாகும்.

Sir James Chadwick - Physicist

ஜேம்ஸ் சாட்விக் - Sir James Chadwick - British Physicist :

✒️Sir James Chadwick was born in England on October 20, 1891, a renowned figure in neutron discovery and nuclear physics. He has worked with Rutherford at the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge since 1923. Together, the two discovered a method of transmutation of elements using alpha particles to decompose some elements into other elements. In 1932, Chadwick discovered that radiation emanating from the element beryllium struck by alpha particles was called neutral particles, which were not electrified, and named them neutrons. The Nobel Prize was awarded in 1935 for these discoveries. The neutron bomb was developed on the basis that it could make an atomic bomb with neutrons. Chadwick received the 1932 Hughes Medal for this invention. Chadwick also studied the chain reactions used in nuclear fission. He was also the first to study the Isotopes. He died on 24th July 1974, giving interest and encouragement to many in science today.

• நியூட்ரான் கண்டுபிடிப்பிலும், அணுக்கரு இயற்பியலிலும் பெரும் புகழ்பெற்ற சர் ஜேம்ஸ் சாட்விக் 1891ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 20ஆம் தேதி இங்கிலாந்தில் பிறந்தார்.

• இவர் 1923ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் கேம்பிரிட்ஜில் உள்ள கேவெண்டிஷ் ஆய்வுக்கூடத்தில் ரூதர்ஃபோர்ட் அவர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து பணியாற்றினார். இருவரும் இணைந்து ஆல்ஃபா துகள்களைப் பயன்படுத்தி, சில தனிமங்களைச் சிதைத்து அவற்றை வேறு தனிமங்களாக மாற்றும் மாற்றுத் தனிமமாக்கல் (transmutation of elements) முறையை கண்டறிந்தனர்.

• ஆல்ஃபா துகள்களால் தாக்கப்பெற்ற பெரீலியம் (beryllium) தனிமத்தில் இருந்து கதிர்வீச்சு உண்டாகுவதை, 1932ஆம் ஆண்டு சாட்விக், மின்னேற்றம் பெறாத நடுநிலைத் துகள்கள் (neutral particles) என கண்டறிந்து அதற்கு நியூட்ரான்கள் என பெயரிட்டார். இக்கண்டுபிடிப்புகளுக்காகவே நோபல் பரிசு 1935ஆம் ஆண்டு வழங்கப்பட்டது.

• நியூட்ரான்களை வைத்து அணுகுண்டு செய்ய முடியும் என்ற அடிப்படையில் நியூட்ரான் குண்டு உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. சாட்விக், இக்கண்டுபிடிப்புக்காக 1932ஆம் ஆண்டு ஹூக்ஸ் பதக்கம் (Hughes Medal) பெற்றார். 

• அணுக்கருப் பிளவில் (nuclear fission) பயன்படும் தொடர் வினைகள் பற்றியும் சாட்விக் ஆய்வு மேற்கொண்டார். ஓரக தனிமங்கள் எனப்படும் ஐசோடோப்புகள் பற்றி முதன் முதலில் ஆய்வு நடத்தியவரும் இவரே. அறிவியலில் இன்றும் பலருக்கு ஆர்வத்தையும், ஊக்கத்தையும் அளித்த இவர் 1974ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜுலை 24ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.

🌟 உலகப் புகழ்பெற்ற நகைச்சுவையாளரும், சிறந்த பத்திரிகையாளருமான ஆர்ட் புச்வால்ட் 1925ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 20ஆம் தேதி அமெரிக்காவின் நியூயார்க் நகரில் பிறந்தார் - Art Buchwald, a world-renowned comedian and journalist, was born on October 20, 1925 in New York City, USA.

🌟1973ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 20ஆம் தேதி சிட்னி ஒப்பேரா மாளிகை திறந்து வைக்கப்பட்டது - The Sydney Opera House was inaugurated on 20 October 1973.

🌟1978ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 20ஆம் தேதி இந்திய கிரிக்கெட் வீரர் வீரேந்தர் சேவாக் டெல்லியில் பிறந்தார் - Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was born on October 20, 1978 in Delhi.

🌟2004ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 20ஆம் தேதி முதலாவது உபுண்டு (Ubuntu) லினக்ஸ் வெளியிடப்பட்டது - On October 20, 2004, the first Ubuntu Linux was released.
