This assessment is undertaken with the aim of excellence and not for self-judgment or criticism. It gives us an opportunity to check in with ourselves and assess whether we are still on the right path.

நாமக்கல் கவிஞர் வெ.ராமலிங்கம் பிள்ளை - V.Ramalingam Pillai - Tamil Poet - Independence Fighter :

✒️Freedom fighter Namakkal Poet V.Ramalingam Pillai was born on October 19, 1888 in Mohanur next to Namakkal. He joined the liberation movement. Inspired by the radicalism of people like Tilak, he entered politics full-throatedly. Then he joined the Congress. He has held the posts of Trichy District Congress Secretary, Karur District Congress President and Namakkal District Congress President. He composed the song 'Kathiyindri rathamindri yuddham ondru varukudhu' for the marching song of the salt satyagraha volunteers. He has left his mark in all fields of literature and has written a total of 66 books. He was appointed as the first court poet of Tamil Nadu after the independence of the country. He has received the Padma Bhushan award. He has been responsible as the Tamil representative of Sahitya Academi. Namakkal V. Ramalingam Pillai, who was praised as a national poet, a Gandhian poet and a court poet, passed away on 24th August 1972.

• சுதந்திரப் போராட்ட வீரர் நாமக்கல் கவிஞர் வெ.ராமலிங்கம் பிள்ளை 1888ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 19ஆம் தேதி நாமக்கல் அடுத்த மோகனூரில் பிறந்தார்.

• இவர் விடுதலைப் போராட்ட இயக்கத்தில் இணைந்தார். திலகர் போன்றவர்களின் தீவிரப்போக்கால் ஈர்க்கப்பட்டு, முழு மூச்சாக அரசியலில் இறங்கினார். பிறகு காங்கிரஸில் இணைந்தார்.

• இவர் திருச்சி மாவட்ட காங்கிரஸ் செயலாளர், கரூர் வட்டார காங்கிரஸ் தலைவர், நாமக்கல் வட்டார காங்கிரஸ் தலைவர் ஆகிய பதவிகளை வகித்துள்ளார். உப்பு சத்தியாகிரகத் தொண்டர்களின் வழிநடைப் பாடலுக்காக இவர் இயற்றித் தந்ததுதான் 'கத்தியின்றி ரத்தமின்றி யுத்தமொன்று வருகுது" என்ற பாடல்.

• இலக்கியத்தின் அனைத்துக் களங்களிலும் முத்திரை பதித்த இவர் மொத்தம் 66 நூல்களை எழுதியுள்ளார். நாடு விடுதலை அடைந்த பிறகு தமிழகத்தின் முதல் அரசவைக் கவிஞராக நியமிக்கப்பட்டார். இவர் பத்மபூஷண் விருது பெற்றுள்ளார். சாகித்ய அகாடமியின் தமிழ் பிரதிநிதியாக பொறுப்பு வகித்துள்ளார்.

• தேசியக் கவிஞர், காந்தியக் கவிஞர், அரசவைக் கவிஞர் என்றெல்லாம் போற்றப்பட்ட நாமக்கல் வெ.ராமலிங்கம் பிள்ளை 1972ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 24ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.

Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar - Astrophysicist

சுப்பிரமணியன் சந்திரசேகர் - Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar -  Indian-American Astrophysicist :

✒️Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar was an Indian-American astrophysicist born on 19 October 1910 in Lahore, British India who spent his professional life in the United States. He was awarded the 1983 Nobel Prize for Physics with William A. Fowler for "...theoretical studies of the physical processes of importance to the structure and evolution of the stars". His mathematical treatment of stellar evolution yielded many of the current theoretical models of the later evolutionary stages of massive stars and black holes. The Chandrasekhar limit is named after him. Chandrasekhar studied at Presidency College, Madras (now Chennai) and the University of Cambridge. A long-time professor at the University of Chicago, he did some of his studies at the Yerkes Observatory, and served as editor of The Astrophysical Journal from 1952 to 1971. He was on the faculty at Chicago from 1937 until his death in 1995 at the age of 84, and was the Morton D. Hull Distinguished Service Professor of Theoretical Astrophysics. NASA named the third of its four "Great Observatories" after Chandrasekhar. This followed a naming contest which attracted 6,000 entries from fifty states and sixty-one countries. The Chandra X-ray Observatory was launched and deployed by Space Shuttle Columbia on 23 July 1999. The Chandrasekhar number, an important dimensionless number of magnetohydrodynamics, is named after him. The asteroid 1958 Chandra is also named after Chandrasekhar. The Himalayan Chandra Telescope is named after him. In the Biographical Memoirs of Fellows of the Royal Society of London, R.J.Tayler wrote: "Chandrasekhar was a classical applied mathematician whose research was primarily applied in astronomy and whose like will probably never be seen again." After retired from his role as a full professor at the University of Chicago in 1980 and his living in Chicago and his output of scientific books continued and his noted books are included An Introduction to the Study of Stellar Structure (1939), Principles of Stellar Dynamics (1942), Radiative Transfer (1950), Hydrodynamic and Hydromagnetic Stability (1961), Truth and Beauty: Aesthetics and Motivations in Science (1987), and Newton’s Principia for the Common Reader (1995). His final book was Newton’s Principia for the Common Reader, a masterpiece published shortly before his death. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar died of a heart attack on August 21, 1995, aged 84 and survived by his wife Lalitha, who died in 2013 at the age of 102.

• நட்சத்திரங்கள் பற்றிய ஆய்வுக்காக 1983ஆம் ஆண்டு இயற்பியலுக்கான நோபல் பரிசு இவருக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டது. சிறந்த ஆராய்ச்சியாளர், ஆசிரியராக விளங்கிய சுப்பிரமணியன் சந்திரசேகர் 1995ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 21ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.
