சர்வதேச இயற்கைப் பேரழிவு குறைப்பு தினம் - International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction :

✒️International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction is observed on 13th October every year. 

• The day was declared by the UN Council in 1989. Storms, floods, earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, forest fires, heavy rains, hurricanes etc. cause disasters. It is practiced to focus on prevention, mitigation and protection from natural disasters.

• The day celebrates how people and communities around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters and raising awareness about the importance of reining in the risks that they face.

• The United Nations General Assembly designated October 13 as the International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction as part of its proclamation of the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction.

• In 2015 at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan, the international community was reminded that disasters hit hardest at the local level with the potential to cause loss of life and great social and economic upheaval. Sudden onset disasters displace millions of people every year. Disasters, many of which are exacerbated by climate change, have a negative impact on investment in sustainable development and the desired outcomes.

• It is also at the local level that capacities need to be strengthened urgently. The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction is people-focussed and action-oriented in its approach to disaster risk reduction and applies to the risk of small-scale and large-scale disasters caused by man-made, or natural hazards, as well as related environmental, technological and biological hazards and risks.

• ஆண்டுதோறும் சர்வதேச இயற்கைப் பேரழிவு குறைப்பு தினம் அக்டோபர் 13ஆம் தேதி கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது. இத்தினம் ஐ.நா.சபையின் மூலம் 1989ஆம் ஆண்டில் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

• புயல், வெள்ளம், பூகம்பம், எரிமலை, சுனாமி, காட்டுத்தீ, கனமழை, சூறாவளி போன்றவை பேரழிவுகளை ஏற்படுத்துகின்றன. இயற்கைப் பேரழிவுகளைத் தடுத்தல், குறைத்தல் மற்றும் இவற்றிலிருந்து தங்களைப் பாதுகாத்துக் கொள்ளுதல் போன்றவற்றின்மீது கவனம் செலுத்தவே இத்தினம் கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது.

உலக முட்டை தினம் - World Egg Day :

✒️World Egg Day is celebrated on the second Friday of October. Eggs are a food that everyone can easily buy and eat, it is a delicious and nutritious food. Eggs are rich in vitamins and minerals. Hence, World Egg Day is observed to create awareness about the health benefits and nutrition of eggs and to promote the contribution of the egg industry to food security and economic development.

மார்கரெட் ஹில்டா தாட்சர் - Margaret Thatcher - Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom :

✒️Margaret Hilda Thatcher, the first female Prime Minister of England, was born on October 13, 1925 in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England. She was the longest-serving British Prime Minister of the twentieth century. She was elected Prime Minister for three consecutive terms from 1979 to 1990. She was called the 'Iron Lady' of England and the policies implemented by her were called 'Thatcherism'. She passed away on April 8, 2013.

• இங்கிலாந்தின் முதல் பெண் பிரதமரான மார்கரெட் ஹில்டா தாட்சர் 1925ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 13ஆம் தேதி இங்கிலாந்தின் லிங்கன் பகுதியில் உள்ள கிரேந்தம் என்னும் இடத்தில் பிறந்தார்.

• இவர் இருபதாம் நூற்றாண்டில் நீண்டகாலம் பணியாற்றிய இங்கிலாந்து பிரதமர். இவர் 1979ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் 1990ஆம் ஆண்டு வரை தொடர்ச்சியாக மூன்று முறை பிரதமராக தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டவர்.

• இவர் இங்கிலாந்தின் 'இரும்பு பெண்மணி" என அழைக்கப்பட்டார். இவரால் செயலாக்கப்பட்ட கொள்கைகள் 'தாட்சரிசம்" என அழைக்கப்பட்டது. இவர் 2013ஆம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் 8ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.
