✒️Today is his memorial day, Jyotirao Govindrao Phule, hailed as the father of the Indian Social Revolution, was born on 11th April 1827 in the state of Maharashtra.

  • He was the first to call for equality and protection of human rights. Realizing that education was the solution to everything. So, he started a girls' school in 1842.

  • He started the Satya Shodhak Samaj (Society of Truth Seekers) in 1873. He was conferred the title of 'Mahatma' at a public meeting in Pune in 1888 in recognition of his 40 years of social service.

  • His wife savitribai Phule also a social worker and she known as the first women teacher of India and the first leader of the women liberation movement.

  • Jyotirao Govindarao Pule, who was an inspiration to social revolutionaries including Dr. Ambedkar and Rajaram Mohan Roy, passed away on 28th November 1890.

  • To honour his services to the society a museum was set up for him in pune, India.

  • The public authority of maharastra presented Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana which is a cashless treatment scheme for the poor.
