  • Today is the memorial day of Jagadish Chandra Bose, was an Indian scientist born on 30th November 1858 in Munshiganj, Bengal Presidency, during British Governance of India (now Bangladesh).  

  • Bose while in London, he came in contact with scientists such as Lord Rayleigh, and Charles Darwin’s son, Francis Darwin and took a keen interest in learning about plants with the help of their inspiration and guidance.  
  • He was a physicist who studied radio waves and invented the wireless transmission system long before Marconi. His books are "Response in the Living and Non-Living" and "The Nervous Mechanisms of Plants".  

  • He was the recipient of Awards of Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire (CIE) (1903), Companion of the Order of the Star of India (CSI) (1911), Knight Bachelor (1917).  
  • He passed away on 23rd November 1937, having made India famous all over the world for his great success and great fame in all his scientific researches which were the abode of determination, courage, patriotism, self-confidence and patience.  
  • On 30th November 2016, Bose was celebrated in a Google Doodle on his 158th anniversary of birth.
