உலக வேசெக்டொமி தினம் - World Vasectomy Day :

✒️World Vasectomy Day is observed on 18th October every year across the world. This initiative was announced in 2013 to raise awareness that men can also do family planning to reduce large families.

• Vasectomy is one of the male-oriented birth control method , extremely safe and easy way to prevent unintended pregnancies.

• During the procedure, the male vasa deferentia are cut and tied or sealed so as to prevent sperm from entering into the urethra and thereby prevent fertilization of a female through sexual intercourse.

• WVD was founded in 2012 by the American film-maker Jonathan Stack while he was working on a documentary about the decision of having a vasectomy. The underlying goal was to involve men in family planning decisions and educate them about vasectomies as a simple way of taking responsibility for birth control.

• In 2013, prolific vasectomist Dr.Douglas Stein was scheduled to perform vasectomies in front of an audience at the Royal Institution of Australia (RiAus) to launch the inaugural World Vasectomy Day with the world’s first live-streamed vasectomy. Dr Stein answered questions from a live audience in Australia and an international online audience.

• The event's third edition was hosted by Indonesia in 2015, the fourth edition was centered in Kenya and featured a vasectomy broadcasted live on Facebook.

• On 17 November 2017, at its fifth anniversary, more than 1,200 vasectomists in more than 50 countries joined the event, making it the largest male-focused family planning event in history.This year's headquarter was located in Mexico.

• Misconception about Vasectomy : There are several  Misconception surrounds this procedure of male birth control that discourages most people from opting for it. 

• Performing a vasectomy is unsafe? This is absolutely wrong. Not only is a a quicker procedure but it’s also very safe.

• It is a difficult surgical procedure? but it is not. In fact, there are two ways to perform a vasectomy, including a no-scalpel vasectomy. They can both be be performed very safely and effectively and carry almost no risk.

• It doesn't heal soon? that is not the case. In fact, the healing takes place really sooner and is only sometimes followed minor symptoms. Apart from rare swelling and soreness there isn't a long lasting effects post vasectomy.

• Does vasectomy make men stops producing sperm? After a vasectomy, it’s the sperm’s ability to be released that’s blocked off, not the ability to produce sperm. 

• Conclusion; In the present world this method of contraception performed by men is very simple but effective so all men should take advantage of such a method of contraception.

The International Menopause Society, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, designated October as World Menopause Awareness Month, and October 18 is celebrated as World Menopause Awareness Day. "The aim of the day is to raise awareness of menopause and support options to improve health and well-being," says the International Menopause Society.

• உலக மெனோபாஸ் தினம் 2009ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது, சர்வதேச மெனோபாஸ் சொசைட்டி (International Menopause Society), உலக சுகாதார நிறுவனத்துடன் (World Health Organization) இணைந்து, அக்டோபர் மாதத்தை உலக மாதவிடாய் விழிப்புணர்வு மாதமாக நியமித்தது, அக்டோபர் 18ஆம் தேதி உலக மாதவிடாய் விழிப்புணர்வு தினமாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. ✒️Today is his memorial day!

✒️Thomas Alva Edison, who discovered more inventions in world history, was born on February 11, 1847 in America. He has patented more than a thousand inventions. He has patented more than a thousand inventions. His inventions include electric bulb, electric generator, telegraph system, electric fan, radio valve, megaphone, motor, telephone speaker, loudspeaker, gramophone, movie camera and military equipment. After accomplishing a feat, he won't be there to receive the accolades. He would have gone into the research lab for the next discovery. When asked about this, he said, 'I don't want to waste today's time talking about yesterday's invention.' Even though he did not learn anything like science and mathematics, Edison, who achieved a number of achievements that no one else in the history of the world could come close to, died on October 18, 1931. When his body was laid to rest, according to the orders of the then US President Herbert Hoover, electric lights were switched off for one minute across the United States.

✒️Today is his memorial day!

✒️Charles Babbage, known as the father of the computer, was born on December 26, 1791 in London. Joining Trinity University in Cambridge in 1810, he showed great talent in mathematics. He created the first computer called Analytical Engine by combining mathematics and mechanics. Charles Babbage designed the early computing engines Analytical Engine and Difference Engine. He died on 18th October 1871.
