ஹெலன் கெல்லர் - Helen Adams Keller - Vision of blind & ear of deaf - Special Child - American Author - Educator - Activist :

✒️Helen Keller was born on June 27, 1880 in Alabama, USA. At the age of one and a half years, she suffered from fever and lost her eyesight, speech and hearing but Inspite of that she achieved what she wanted to do so. she learned English, French, German, Greek and Latin in Braille by the age of ten with the help of her teacher Anne Sullivan. During her college days she wrote her autobiography, "The Story of My Life" in 1903. Her autobiography has been translated into more than 50 languages worldwide, including Tamil. In addition, she has written 12 books. She became the first woman to graduate from a university without sight or hearing. The film "The Miracle Worker," based on her life, won an Oscar. Helen Keller, who worked tirelessly for the welfare of the disabled throughout her life, passed away on 1st June 1968.

ஒன்றரை வயதில் ஏற்பட்ட காய்ச்சலால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு பார்வைத்திறன், பேசும்திறன், கேட்கும்திறனை இழந்தாலும், சாதனை படைக்க முடியும் என்பதை நிரூபித்துக் காட்டிய ஹெலன் கெல்லர் 1880ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் 27ஆம் தேதி அமெரிக்காவின் அலபாமா மாநிலத்தில் பிறந்தார்.

இவர் ஆனி சலிவன் ஆசிரியை உதவியுடன் பத்து வயதுக்குள் பிரெய்லி முறையில் ஆங்கிலம், பிரெஞ்ச், ஜெர்மன், கிரேக்கம், லத்தீன் மொழிகளைக் கற்றார். தனது கல்லூரி நாட்களிலேயே 1903ஆம் ஆண்டு "தி ஸ்டோரி ஆஃப் மை லைப்" என்ற தலைப்பில் தனது சுயசரிதையை எழுதினார்.

மேலும் இவருடைய சுயசரிதை தமிழ் உட்பட உலகம் முழுவதும் 50-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட மொழிகளில் மொழிப்பெயர்க்கப்பட்டது. இதை தவிர, 12 நூல்கள் எழுதியுள்ளார். பார்வையின்றி, காதுகேளாமல் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் படித்து பட்டம் பெற்ற முதல் பெண் என்ற பெருமையை பெற்றார். இவரது வாழ்க்கையை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட தி மிராக்கிள் ஒர்க்கர் (The Miracle Worker) திரைப்படம் ஆஸ்கார் விருதை பெற்றது.

வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் நலனுக்காக அயராமல் பாடுபட்ட ஹெலன் கெல்லர் 1968ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜுன் 1ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.

அகிலன் - Akilandam (pen name Akilan) Indian Writer - Novelist :

✒️He has many faces as a Freedom Fighter, Famous Novelist, Playwright, Children's Writer, Translator, Writer, translator and columnist. Many of his works have received awards from the Government of Tamil Nadu, India. Akilan, who made important contributions to Tamil literature, passed away in 1988.

தமிழில் முதல் ஞானபீட விருது பெற்ற அகிலன் 1922ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் 27ஆம் தேதி புதுக்கோட்டை மாவட்டம் பெருங்களூரில் பிறந்தார். இவரது இயற்பெயர் பி.வி.அகிலாண்டம்.

சுதந்திரப் போராட்ட வீரர், புகழ்பெற்ற புதின ஆசிரியர், நாடகாசிரியர், சிறுவர் நூலாசிரியர், மொழிப்பெயர்ப்பாளர், கட்டுரையாளர் என இவருக்கு பல முகங்கள் உண்டு.

வேங்கையின் மைந்தன் என்ற நாவல் 1963ஆம் ஆண்டு சாகித்ய அகாடமி விருதையும், சித்திரப்பாவை 1975ஆம் ஆண்டு ஞானபீட விருதையும் பெற்றன. இவரின் பல படைப்புகள் தமிழக அரசு விருதுகளைப் பெற்றுள்ளன.

தமிழ் இலக்கியத்திற்கு முக்கிய பங்களிப்பை வழங்கிய அகிலன், 1988ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 31ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.
