Ayyankali - Social Reformer

அய்யன்காளி - Mahatma Ayyankali - Social Reformer - Militantly Opposed Caste Practices - Fought for the Rights of Farmers - Built schools for Dalits -  Fought for Emancipation of Women :

✒️Ayyankali, a Kerala fighter who gained the rights denied to the downtrodden, was born on August 28, 1863 in Travancore. He won the first agricultural labor strike in Kerala and won many rights for the workers including 'Sunday rest'. It was his initiative to start the first government school in South India to provide free education to all children irrespective of caste. He led numerous struggles for education, government employment, land, social respect, right to worship in temples and won. He started an organization called Sadhujana Paripalana Sangam in 1905 by uniting the people of his community. Gandhi visited Venkanur in 1937 and met him and praised his charity and blessed him. Ayyankali, a greatest fighter who won many rights for the downtrodden people, was died in 1941.

• தாழ்த்தப்பட்டோருக்கு மறுக்கப்பட்டிருந்த உரிமைகளை பெற்றுத்தந்த கேரளப் போராளி அய்யன்காளி 1863ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 28ஆம் தேதி திருவிதாங்கூருக்கு உட்பட்ட பெருங்காட்டுவிளா என்ற ஊரில் பிறந்தார்.

• கேரளாவில் முதல் முறையாக நடந்த விவசாயத் தொழிலாளர் போராட்டம் வெற்றி பெற்று, 'ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை ஓய்வு" உள்ளிட்ட பல உரிமைகளை தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு இவர் பெற்றுத்தந்தார்.

• சாதி பேதமின்றி எல்லா குழந்தைகளுக்கும் இலவசக் கல்வி அளிக்கும், தென்னிந்தியாவின் முதல் அரசுப் பள்ளிக்கூடம் இவரது முனைப்பால் தொடங்கப்பட்டது. இவர் கல்வி, அரசு வேலைவாய்ப்பு, நிலம், சமூக மரியாதை, கோவில்களில் வழிபாட்டு உரிமை ஆகியவற்றிற்காகவும் ஏராளமான போராட்டங்களை முன்னின்று நடத்தி வெற்றி பெற்றார்.

• தன் சமூக மக்களை ஒன்றிணைத்து சாதுஜன பரிபாலன சங்கம் என்ற அமைப்பை 1905ஆம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கினார். காந்தியடிகள் 1937ஆம் ஆண்டு வெங்கனூர் சென்று இவரை சந்தித்து, இவரது தொண்டுகளைப் பாராட்டி ஆசி வழங்கினார்.

• தாழ்த்தப்பட்ட மக்களுக்கு பல உரிமைகளைப் பெற்றுத்தந்த போராளியான அய்யன்காளி 1941ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜுன் 18ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.

🌟The Inter-State River Water Disputes Act, 1956 : It was enacted & enforced on 28th August 1956, to provide for the adjudication of disputes relating to waters of inter-State rivers and river valleys.

🌟The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958 : It was enacted on 28th August 1958 & came into force on 15th August 1959, to provide for the preservation of ancient and historical monuments and archaeological sites and remains of national importance, for the regulation of archaeological excavations and for the protection of sculptures, carvings and other like objects.

🌟 1789ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 28ஆம் தேதி வில்லியம் ஹேர்ச்செல், சனி கோளில் புதிய சந்திரனைக் கண்டுபிடித்தார் - On August 28, 1789, William Herschel discovered the new moon (Enceladus) on Saturn.

🌟 1845ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 28ஆம் தேதி சயின்டிபிக் அமெரிக்கன் என்ற இதழின் முதல் பதிப்பு வெளியானது - The first issue of Scientific American newspaper was published on August 28, 1845.

🌟 1891ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 28ஆம் தேதி திராவிட மொழியியலின் தந்தை, ராபர்ட் கால்டுவெல் மறைந்தார் - Robert Caldwell, father of Dravidian linguistics, died on August 28, 1891.
