✒️World Suicide Prevention Day is observed globally on 10th September every year. The International Organization for the Prevention of Suicide and the United Nations World Health Organization jointly declared this day in 2003. In 2011, around 40 countries held various awareness programs to prevent global suicide. Every 40 seconds someone commits suicide somewhere in the world. The number of suicides is higher than those killed by murders and wars. Only if everyone joins hands in spreading awareness about suicide to prevent it, this deadly disease can be completely eradicated from the society.
- உலகளாவிய ரீதியில் ஆண்டுதோறும் செப்டம்பர் 10ஆம் தேதி உலக தற்கொலை தடுப்பு தினம் அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.
- தற்கொலையை தடுப்பதற்காக சர்வதேச அமைப்பு மற்றும் ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் உலக சுகாதார அமைப்பு ஆகியன இணைந்து 2003ஆம் ஆண்டில் இந்த தினத்தை பிரகடனம் செய்தது.
- கடந்த 2011ஆம் ஆண்டில் சுமார் 40 நாடுகள் உலக தற்கொலையை தடுக்க பல்வேறு விழிப்புணர்வு நிகழ்ச்சிகளை நடத்தியது. ஒவ்வொரு 40 வினாடிகளுக்கும் உலகின் எங்கோ ஒரு மூலையில் ஒருவர் தற்கொலை செய்கிறார். தற்கொலையில் இறப்பவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை, கொலைகள் மற்றும் போர்களின் மூலம் உயிரிழப்பவர்களைக் காட்டிலும் அதிகமாக உள்ளது.

✒️Japanese video game designer, Gunpei Yokoi was born on September 10, 1941 in Japan. He is the creator of the video game device called 'Game Boy'. Gunpei Yokoi passed away on October 4, 1997. In 2003, Yokoi was posthumously awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Sports Members.
