- இந்நாள் ஆண்டுதோறும் ஆகஸ்ட் 26ந் தேதியன்று உலகம் முழுவதும் அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது. அனைத்து வகையான பாலின அடிப்படையிலான பாகுபாடுகளை நிராகரிக்கவும், பாலின சமத்துவத்தை மேம்படுத்தவும் இந்நாள் அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.

அன்னை தெரசா - Mother Teresa (Anjeze Gonxhe Bojaxhiu) - Nun - Missionary - Social Worker :
✒️Mother Teresa was born on August 26, 1910 in Uskup, Ottoman Empire (now Skopje, Macedonian Republic). Her birth name was Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu. (Gonxhe means 'rose beet' in Albanian). In 1950, she founded the Catholic Congregation of Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, India. For more than forty five years, she has been a charity worker for the poor, the sick, the orphans and the dying. By the 1970s, she was acclaimed throughout the world as a great social worker and intercessor for the poor and destitute. She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and the Bharat Ratna in 1980. Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997 at the age of 87. At the time of her death, Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity was operating 610 charities in 123 countries. Mother Teresa's famous Quote; "If you judge people, then you have no time to love them."
- அன்னை தெரசா 1910ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 26ஆம் தேதி ஓட்டோமான் பேரரசிலுள்ள அஸ்கபிலில் (தற்போது மாக்கடோனியக் குடியரசின் ஸ்கோப்ஜே) பிறந்தார். இவரின் இயற்பெயர் ஆக்னஸ் கோன்ஜா போஜாஜியூ ஆகும். (கோன்ஜா என்பதற்கு அல்பேனிய மொழியில் 'ரோஜா அரும்பு" என்று பொருள்).
- இவர் 1950ஆம் ஆண்டு, இந்தியாவின் கொல்கத்தாவில் பிறர் அன்பின் பணியாளர் என்ற கத்தோலிக்க துறவற சபையினை நிறுவினார். நாற்பத்தைந்து வருடங்களுக்கு மேலாக ஏழை எளியோர்களுக்கும், நோய்வாய்ப்பட்டோருக்கும், அனாதைகளுக்கும், இறக்கும் தருவாயிலிருப்போருக்கும் தொண்டாற்றியவர்.
- 1970ஆம் ஆண்டுக்குள் இவர் சிறந்த சமூக சேவகர் எனவும், ஏழைகளுக்கும், ஆதரவற்றோருக்கும் பரிந்து பேசுபவர் என்றும் உலகம் முழுவதும் புகழப்பட்டார். இவர் 1979ஆம் ஆண்டு அமைதிக்கான நோபல் பரிசினையும், 1980ஆம் ஆண்டு இந்தியாவின் சிறந்த குடிமக்கள் விருதான பாரத ரத்னா விருதினையும் பெற்றார்.
- அன்னை தெரசா 1997ஆம் ஆண்டு செப்டம்பர் 5ஆம் தேதி தன்னுடைய 87-வது வயதில் மறைந்தார். அன்னை தெரசாவின் பிறர் அன்பின் பணியாளர் சபை அவரது இறப்பின் போது 123 நாடுகளில் 610 தொண்டு நிறுவனங்களை இயக்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தது.
திரு.வி.கல்யாணசுந்தரம் - Thiruvarur Viruttachala Kalyanasundaram (Thiru.Vi.Ka) - Tamil Scholar, Writer and Activist :
✒️Thiru.Vi.Kalyanasundaram, a versatile poet, stage speaker, writer, magazine editor and hailed as the "Thamiz Thendral (Tamil breeze), was born on August 26, 1883 in a village called Thulam in Kanchipuram district. He brought a resolution in the Mahajana Sangh meeting in Chennai that 'Everybody should speak in Tamil everywhere'. He brilliantly translated the speech given by Gandhiji in Chennai and won praise from Gandhiji. Tilak was his political guru. His role was enormous in the formation of the first trade union in Chennai in 1918. He started the "Navasakthi" weekly in 1920 and ran it for 20 years. He ignited patriotism through his writings. He was hailed as the father of new prose and the father of stage speech. He was hailed as Thamiz Thendral (Tamil breeze), Pechu Puyal (Speech storm), Ezuthu Erimalai (Writing volcano) and Seithithaal sirpi (Newspaper sculptor). He himself created a new style of style calling himself Thiru.Vi.Ka. He did religious work along with Tamil work, was died on 17th September 1953 at age of 70.
- கவிஞர், மேடைப் பேச்சாளர், எழுத்தாளர், பத்திரிக்கை ஆசிரியர் என பன்முகத்திறன் கொண்டவரும், 'தமிழ்த் தென்றல்" என போற்றப்பட்டவருமான திரு.வி.கல்யாணசுந்தரம் 1883ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 26ஆம் தேதி காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள துள்ளம் என்ற சிற்றூரில் பிறந்தார்.
- இவர் சென்னை மகாஜன சங்கக் கூட்டத்தில் 'இனி எங்கும் எவரும் தமிழிலேயே பேசவேண்டும்" என்ற தீர்மானத்தை கொண்டு வந்தார். இவர் சென்னையில் காந்தியடிகள் ஆற்றிய உரையை அற்புதமாக மொழிபெயர்த்து காந்தியடிகளிடம் பாராட்டு பெற்றார். இவருக்கு அரசியல் குருவாக திலகர் இருந்தார்.
- சென்னையில் 1918ஆம் ஆண்டு முதன்முதலாக தொழிற்சங்கம் உருவானதில் இவரது பங்கு மகத்தானது. 1920ஆம் ஆண்டு நவசக்தி வார இதழைத் தொடங்கி 20 ஆண்டுகள் நடத்தினார். தன் எழுத்துகளால் தேசபக்தி கனலை மூட்டினார்.
- இவர் புதிய உரைநடையின் தந்தை, மேடைப் பேச்சின் தந்தை என்றும் போற்றப்பட்டார். தமிழ்த் தென்றல், பேச்சுப் புயல், எழுத்து எரிமலை, செய்தித்தாள் சிற்பி என்றெல்லாம் புகழப்பட்டார்.
- இவரே தன்னுடைய பெயரை 'திரு.வி.க." என்று அழைக்கும் வண்ணம் புதுவகை நடையைத் தோற்றுவித்தார். தமிழ்ப்பணி, நாட்டுப் பணியுடன் சமயப்பணியும் ஆற்றிய திரு.வி.க. 70-வது வயதில் (17.09.1953) மறைந்தார்.

🌟The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 : It was enacted on 26th August 2009 & came into force on 1st April 2010, to provide for free and compulsory education to all children of the age of six to fourteen years.
🌟The Chemical Weapons Convention Act, 2000 : It was enacted on 26th August 2000 & came into force on 1st July 2005, to give effect to the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
🌟The Coal Mines (Conservation and Development) Act, 1974 : It was enacted on 26th August 1974 & came into force on 1st April 1975, to provide for the conservation of coal and development of coal mines and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
