பிரெடரிக் ரஸல் - Frederick F. Russell - Physician - Developer of Typhoid Vaccine :
✒️Brigadier General Frederick Fuller Russell, who introduced the typhoid vaccine to the Army, was born on August 17, 1870 in Auburn, New York, USA. Working in the army medical department, he researched the program to provide vaccination against typhoid to soldiers. After that, he was sent to England as a laboratory visitor to Sir Almroth Wright, a professor of the Royal College of Medicine and researcher of anti-typhoid. He developed a vaccine to kill typhoid germs. Later, soldiers were gradually given the vaccine from 1910 onwards. It worked so well that in 1911 vaccination was made compulsory for all. The US National Academy of Sciences awarded him the Public Welfare Medal in recognition of his contributions to public welfare programs. For the next few years, he worked as a professor of infectious and preventive medicine at Harvard Medical School and Harward school of public health. Such a great Physician, who brought the typhoid vaccine into public use and was involved in preventive research until the end, was died in 1960.
